This is one of the few images in this series that doesn't have a message. That's why I named my site after it: it's more like a mascot than anything else. I decided to draw this as a senior in high school, but didn't get around to it until I was a senior in college. Why a zebra? Because they're aesthetically absurd. Why a flying zebra? You know, I honestly can't remember. I think I just wanted the zebra to feel good and free because he could fly.

I've long had a poster I bought at a grade-school book fair featuring a tiger leaping across an expanse of sky. That poster was obliquely the inspiration for this image, and the reason why I chose to draw it so large.

The main lesson I learned from this drawing was that the need to color large areas was why people invented paint.
